Hug The Bends In The Road
I remember fretting over our son getting into his sister's indy school, starting a new job, and becoming caregiver to my Dad -all at the same time. By the way, life-changing events continue to happen in threes for me making self-care imperative!
What if he doesn't get in? What if the new job doesn't work out? Can we take care of my ailing Dad? The uncertainty of change can be extremely overwhelming.
For sanity's sake, what if we looked at change as bends in the road as we move towards a good education, economic mobility, and stronger family bonds? Could we then focus on being empowered by the possibilities and not paralyzed by perceptions?
Hugging the bends in the road offers empathy needed to be less hard on ourselves and others when things go left. And humility when things go according to plan.
Around this time, we recognize many families are crafting essays, preparing for interviews, or parent-teacher conferences, some are applying to colleges -all while navigating constant change in their lives.
