Should I prepare my child for the testing process?

All students should be prepared for the test prep as well as the interview.

For young children, the process should be short and not overwhelming.

Pre-K -1

  • How to calmly separate from the parent

  • Social interaction with proctor

  • Play games, work on fun puzzles and answer a few questions

  • regarding shapes, colors and alphabet

  • Check out the DIAL assessment advice on line

 

Grades 2-4

  • Make sure that your child is familiar with the test structure

  • Utilize practice tests and flash cards for vocabulary and math

  • Don’t forget about writing and the essay

  • Check the ISEE website for test requirements

  • Read to increase your comprehension and critical thinking skills

  • Check to see if untimed testing is necessary for your child

  • Test prep for at least 5-8 sessions is highly recommended

  • If test preparation is not an option, families should schedule test prep consultation
